The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Kwasi Kwarfo Adarkwa has urged all graduands to make effective use of time at their disposal. He gave this advice when speaking at the afternoon session of the 44th Congregation of the University for graduating students of the College of Architecture and Planning.
The graduands presented at the ceremony were 570, out of which 31 earned First Class Honours degrees, 275 had Second Class Honours (Upper division), 159 obtained Second Class (Lower division), and 13 graduated with a Pass degree. Among the graduands were 94 Architects, 112 Building Technologists, 102 Development Planners, 42 Human Settlement Planners and 128 Land Economists and Valuers.
The Vice-Chancellor asked them to adopt a humble attitude wherever they find themselves, to enable them learn very quickly from those they would be meeting at their various destinations.
Prof. Adarkwa stated that the world is tremendously advancing in all spheres of life, and as a result there is competing demand for time. He said if they are not guided by any principle, they could get lost. Again he entreated them to get established and maintain a wide network of friends to enhance their opportunities.
On his part, the motivational speaker, Architect S. M. Quartey who graduated from the College some years back cautioned that, whiles going out there into the world, they would be entrapped with challenges and uncertainties; however with patience, humility, perseverance and determination, everything is achievable.
He said that success is not achieved overnight and that although global economic crunch has yielded to competition, they should exhibit extra knowledge to make them outstanding wherever they would find themselves.
The overall best student Master Emmanuel Otutei, Department of Development Planning of the Faculty of Land Economy and Planning said that, with the formidable tools and equipments endowed in them, they should uphold in high esteem, their diligence, integrity, among others and take up their best to enhance the visibility of their alma mata as No.1 in Ghana.
